Our theme this year is “Connecting through Music.” We want to know: How do you share music? Let us know by replying to this post! #musicalconnections #sharemusic
In the studio, musical challenges are in effect, Harry Potter style: Students of all ages and instruments are part of a House, except our houses are named after musical composers (the Schumann, Joplin, Liszt, Mendelssohn, and Debussy House). You earn points for your team by connecting through music in any of the following ways:
*Perform
*Attend a concert
*Compose a song (16+ measures)
*Complete a Monthly musical challenge
*Read a book about composer, musician, band, or style of music
Some students have already been earning points for their house–keep up the good work!

Pleasant Street Music Studio students attended Cape Ann Symphony’s “Russian Fireworks” on Sunday, September 24 at Ipswich High School, and met concert pianist Ya-Fei Chuang after the performance. Pictured here (from left to right): Penelope, Anna, Ya-Fei Chuang, Laura, Patrick and Irene. We asked Chuang how she memorized all of the Rachmaninoff Prelude No. 2 and how she became such a talented pianist, and she shared her secret with us: Practice!
